At Guiding Stars, we are dedicated to empowering inner-city youth to lead healthy, responsible lives. Our organization has been serving the youth in the northwest section of Philadelphia for over a decade, working tirelessly to make a positive difference in their lives.
Our Inspiration: Anthony C. Richardson Lee
Anthony C. Richardson Lee’s story serves as an inspiration and guiding light for our organization. Despite facing adversity, Anthony demonstrated unwavering determination, achievement, and service to others. His passion for education and community involvement continues to inspire our work today.
Born on October 9, 1987, Anthony grew up in Philadelphia and excelled academically within the Philadelphia Public School System. His commitment to making a difference was evident through his frequent visits to the Youth Study Center, where he offered guidance and support to those in need.
Anthony’s aspiration to become a lawyer led him to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice at Cheyney University, where he continued to excel academically and become deeply involved in campus life. As a devoted member of various campus organizations, including the Student Government Association and Alpha Phi Alpha, Anthony demonstrated leadership and a commitment to service.
Tragically, Anthony’s life was cut short during his sophomore year by cancer. Despite this devastating illness, his legacy of resilience, determination, and service lived on. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Cheyney University posthumously awarded Anthony with an honorary degree in May of 2010, honoring his memory and the impact he had on those around him.

At Guiding Stars, we strive to continue Anthony’s legacy by promoting education, self-respect, individualism, and healthy living among inner-city youth. Through our programs and initiatives, we aim to empower youth to make responsible decisions and thrive in all aspects of their lives.
